Thornicroft Lodge is named after the quite beautiful and statuesque Thornicroft Giraffe that is endemic to Luangwa
Valley – There is no other like it in the area – a likeness shared by the lodge. On an initial inspection visit to the site to gauge its appropriateness, a very large male Thornicroft Giraffe was standing approximately where the restaurant is now situated, staring at the team in a suitably aloof manner as if to indicate that our survey was unnecessary… so I suppose you could say Thornicroft named itself.
There are 10 en suite chalets built from stone, concrete and wood. Each spacious and airy structure has a canvass roof and is designed to allow maximum visibility even when you are in your chalet. Twin and double rooms are available with luxurious mattresses and bedding to ensure you the best nights rest possible, whilst being safely tucked inside your large walk in mosquito net. The chalets are large enough to accommodate an extra bed for children if required. Square pin electrical power sockets are provided close to your writing desk as well as near your cozy sitting area. The colour scheme is in African earth tones, creating a feeling of simplistic sophistication with modern conveniences. Natural materials have been used artistically to give each chalet its unique style and ambience.
The restaurant, bar and lounge area is in the heart of the property and within easy reach of all the chalets. Set menu’s are offered and dietary requirements are catered for with prior notice.
Game drives are undertaken in specially modified 4X4 open safari vehicles and led by qualified guides with an intimate knowledge of the park and its fauna and flora.
Thornicroft will ensure you stay in comfort and style and will make your game viewing experience in Africa’s finest game reserve a truly memorable and rewarding experience.
