Day 1: - Meet at the Land and Lake Office at 0830 in the morning. [A free collection service is offered to clients in Lilongwe]. Depart Lilongwe at 0900. Continue to Mchinji. [1&1/2 hr drive] Here we complete immigration formalities and continue to Mwami - [the Zambian border]. From the border it is a short drive to Chipata - Zambia's capital of the Eastern Province. Proceed on a dirt road to Luangwa Valley - Mfuwe sector. A picnic lunch is enjoyed en route and ETA at the Lodge is mid afternoon. On arrival we check into our chalets followed by tea and coffee. Dinner is served around 20H00.
Day 2: - Early morning wake up call, followed by a refreshments then on our first game drive. We return to the lodge mid morning for a rest and delicious “brunch” then we head of for our afternoon / night drive at around 4, returning at 8pm. Overnight Thornicroft.
Day 3: - After breakfast we depart the Mfuwe sector and drive northwards. Our route takes us through the game rich Nsefu Sector of South Luangwa National Park. This journey is done slowly with frequent game viewing stops en route. Our arrival at the community owned bushcamp [Mwanya] is mid afternoon with time to relax by the river whilst watching the magic of an African sunset.
Day 4: - Tea, coffee and a light snack follow an early morning wakeup call then we do a game walk in the company of an ex poacher turned conservationist – their sharp senses and deep understanding of wildlife will provide you with a most memorable game viewing experience. Our return to Camp is welcomed by a delicious meal prepared by the staff. The afternoon walk, again in the company of a local guide, offers a spectacular sunset over the Luangwa River. Overnight in the community bushcamp all meals provided.
Day 5: - This morning after saying our goodbyes, we drive back through the Nsefu sector and return to Lilongwe. A picnic lunch is eaten en route and ETA in the city is late afternoon. A free drop off service is offered in Lilongwe

Luangwa Valley - 9050 sq km of pristine woodland and riverine vegetation plays host to over 40 mammal and 650 bird species. The South Luangwa has been described as the premier park in Africa foremost for the variety of species seen when visiting. A visit to Malawi and Zambia would be totally incomplete without experiencing the sheer magnitude and delight of this unique area.
Chifunda Bushcamp is set overlooking the Luangwa River lined by towering mahogany trees and surrounded by Mopane Forests. The camp is a community partnership with 65% ownership. All staff are from this remote area and the guides and trackers are reformed poachers. There are only 2 chalets ensuring total exclusivity and serenity. The area around the camp is totally wild – semi protected and game viewing is superb.
