8 Day UPPER NORTH LUANGWA VALLEY

An in depth journey to a game rich  and very remote area seldom accessed by tourists
in the company of experienced guides and traditional hunters.

Day 1: - Meet at the Land and Lake Office at 0830 in the morning. [A free collection service is offered to clients in Lilongwe]. Depart Lilongwe at 0900. Continue to Mchinji. [1&1/2 hr drive] Here we complete immigration formalities and continue to Mwami - [the Zambian border]. From the border it is a short drive to Chipata - Zambia's capital of the Eastern Province. Proceed on a dirt road to Luangwa Valley - Mfuwe sector. A picnic lunch is enjoyed en route and ETA at the Lodge is 15.30pm. On arrival we check into our chalets followed by tea and coffee.

Day 2:
- Tea, coffee and a light snack follow an early morning wake up call. Our aim is to be on our first game drive in South Luangwa Park by 6.15 am. All game drives are undertaken in specially modified safari vehicles, to optimise your pleasure and experience. Drinks and snacks are taken along for your enjoyment whilst in the park. Depending on game sightings, we return to the lodge at 11 for a scrumptious "brunch". An afternoon rest then we again head out for our afternoon drive at around 1600 - returning to the lodge at 2000. Evening Dinner [Night drive – Luangwa is renowned for the night drives and this is INCLUDED in your safari. - a powerful spotlight is used to spot nocturnal creatures that frequent this habitat.]

Day 3
: - After breakfast we depart the Mfuwe sector and drive northwards. Our route takes us through the game rich Nsefu Sector. This journey is done slowly with frequent game viewing stops en route. Our arrival in this community owned Mwanya bushcamp is mid afternoon with time to relax by the river whilst watching the magic of an African sunset.

Day 4
: - Tea, coffee and a light snack follow an early morning wake up, after which we go on a game walk in the company of an ex poacher turned conservationist – their sharp senses and deep understanding of wildlife will provide you with a most memorable game viewing experience. Our return to Camp is welcomed by a delicious meal prepared by the staff. After a midday rest we drive to nearby local Community school and visit the community and return for a night drive around the camp area, returning to the lodge for dinner.

Day 5
: - After breakfast we drive to the next community camp – Chifunda Bushcamp – On the drive we pass through villages and long stretches of Mopane forests. A dark Green canopy of “African Ebony trees” provides a natural ceiling to the open dining area. Arrival at the camp is late afternoon. Picnic lunch and evening dinner at the lodge.

Day 6
: - Tea, coffee and a light snack follow an early morning wake up call and we do a game walk in the company of an ex poacher turned conservationist – their sharp senses and deep understanding of wildlife will provide you with a most memorable game viewing experience. Our return to Camp is welcomed by a delicious meal prepared by the staff – after a midday rest, we enter North Luangwa conservancy area on an afternoon / night drives, returning to the camp for dinner.
Day 7
: - We have a choice of a game walk or drive into North Luangwa Park, returning for brunch. The afternoon game drive returns as it gets dark and the Local community will provide the evenings entertainment with plays, songs and stories.

Day 8
: - This morning after saying our goodbyes, we drive eastwards to Lundazi and cross into Malawi near Jenda. A picnic lunch is eaten en route and ETA in the city is late afternoon. A free drop off service is offered in Lilongwe

Included in the above package: All transport Lilongwe return, 7 nights chalet accommodation, all meals, all game drives, walks and night drives as indicated.
