Land & Lake Safaris 2011

Persons: -     Minimum 4.

Day 1 – Arrive Lilongwe – Transfer you to the Sanctuary Lodge – Overnight here on a Bed and breakfast basis.  

Day 2 – Depart Lilongwe and drive via Dedza to Blantyre and to Satemwa Tea Estate. Arrive mid afternoon. Overnight Satemwa in the delightful old colonial house, set in stunning gardens. Overnight Satemwa all meals provided 

Day 3 – The day is spent exploring the estate. Walks into an endemic forest which is renowned for birdwatching. A factory tour, horseriding, quadbiking are some of the optional extras on offer. Overnight Satemwa all meals provided 

Day 4 – After breakfast depart back through Limbe and drive to Zomba. On arrival in Zomba town, a brief tour of Zomba Market, then continue up the plateau to Ku Chawe Inn. Arrival in the hotel is early afternoon. Overnight Ku Chawe Inn on Dinner, bed and breakfast basis.  

Day 5: - Today a tour of the plateau is planned, by vehicle and on foot. We visit areas like Chingwe’s hole, Queen and Emperors view in the morning, and a walk along the Mulunguzi stream in the afternoon Overnight Ku Chawe Inn on Dinner, bed and breakfast basis.       

Day 6: - After a more leisurely start to the morning, it’s a relatively short drive to the entrance of Liwonde Park. From the entrance gate it’s a 1 and ½ hr game drive to Mvuu Camp – our next overnight camp. Liwonde is Malawi’s most popular game park, hosting an impressive array of animals with the mighty Shire river forming the lifeblood of the park. Overnight Mvuu Camp on Full Board Basis.  

Day 7 : - Morning and afternoon game walks, boat safaris or game drives are offered with time between activities to relax or swim in the lodge pool. Scrumptious meals with endless tea and coffee are all included. Overnight Mvuu Camp on Full board basis. 

Day 8 : – After breakfast drive up along the Lake and after a lunch stop at Mua Mission, continue to Senga Bay. Overnight here at Livingstonia Beach Hotel on DBB basis.   

Day 9 : -  A day at leaisure on the Lake – swimming snorkeling and use of non motorized watersports included. Overnight Livingstonia Beach Hotel on Dinner, Bed and Breakfast basis. 

Day 10: - Breakfast then drive on to Lilongwe and proceed on to Luangwa Valley.  Drive to  Mchinji. [1&1/2 hr drive] Here we complete immigration formalities and continue to Mwami - [the Zambian border]. From the border it is a short drive to Chipata - Zambia's capital of the Eastern Province. Proceed on a dirt road to Luangwa Valley –  Mfuwe sector. A picnic lunch is enjoyed en route and ETA at THORNICROFT LODGE is mid afternoon. On arrival we check into our chalets followed by tea and coffee. Overnight Thornicroft Lodge on Full Board Basis. 

Day 11 & 12 : - Tea, coffee and a light snack follow an early morning wake up call. Our aim is to be on our first game drive by 6.15 am. All game drives are undertaken in specially modified safari vehicles, to optimise your pleasure and experience. Drinks and snacks are taken along for your enjoyment whilst in the park. Depending on game sightings, we return to the lodge at 11 for a scrumptious "brunch". An afternoon rest then we again head out for our afternoon / night drive at around 1600  - returning to the lodge at 2000. Overnight Thornicroft Lodge on Full Board Basis.  

Day 13: - After a more leisurely start to the morning and a full breakfast, we pack up and depart back to Lilongwe. Departure time is 0900. A picnic lunch is eaten en route and ETA in the city is 1500. On arrival we check into the comfortable Sanctuary Lodge on a bed and breakfast basis.  END OF SERVICE

 Included: All transport Lilongwe return, all indicated accommodation, meals as indicated, game drives, game walks, park entrance fees IN Malawi ONLY, services of guide.
