Land & Lake Safaris - 2012

  4 Day Camping Safari - Luangwa Valley  

    

Departs every FRIDAY & TUESDAY

COST - US $420.00  p/p sharing – Single Supplement $15.00

Day 1: -  Meet at the Land and Lake Office at 0830 on a FRIDAY or  TUESDAY morning. Depart Lilongwe at  0900 in the transfer bus. Continue to Mchinji. [1&1/2 hr drive] Here we complete immigration formalities and continue to Mwami - [the Zambian border]. From the border it is a short drive to Chipata - Zambia's capital of the Eastern Province. Proceed on a dirt road to Luangwa Valley - Mfuwe sector. A picnic lunch is enjoyed en route and ETA at the campsite is mid afternoon. Tents are allocated and the remainder of the day is free. Dinner will be served at the site at 19H00.

The tents are equipped with lighting, beds, 6” foam mattresses, crisp & clean duvets and linen. Clients are expected to provide their own Towels. There is hot water ablution block on site.

Day 2 & 3 : - After an early morning light breakfast [Cereal, toast tea or coffee], we depart for a morning drive at 06H00. The game drive is done in the lodges open game viewing safari vehicle – specially modified for this purpose. Depending on game sightings, we return to the lodge at 10 for a scrumptious "brunch". An afternoon rest, or you can swim / lounge by the pool swim, then we again head out for our afternoon/ night drive at around 16H00 - returning to the lodge at 20H00. Evening dinner will be served on our return.  

Day 4: - This morning a more leisurely start to the day with breakfast after which we pack up and return back to Lilongwe, with a picnic lunch en route. ETA in the city is 1500. Drop off at Land and Lake safaris office. 

Included in the above package: Transport Lilongwe return, 3 nights camping [2 people per tent], all meals, 4 X game drives.

Excluded in the above package: Drinks, visa fees [if applicable], park entrance fees [$ 25 p/p/p/d], extra game drives or game walks [seasonal].

  

Luangwa Valley - 9050 sq km of pristine woodland and riverine vegetation plays host to over 40 mammal and 650 bird species. The South Luangwa has been described as the premier park in Africa foremost for the variety of species seen when visiting. A visit to Malawi and Zambia would be totally incomplete without experiencing the sheer magnitude and delight of this unique area.

Thornicroft Tented Camp – is a purpose built small [ 8 tents] private campsite with a unisex communal ablution facility [Hot and cold water], situated on the Thornicroft Lodge site. Campers are allowed to use the swimming pool. Simple meals are prepared in the lodges kitchen and served in the central, open sided dining area hosing the central fire pit. Guests are expected to provide their own towels, but comfortable beds and crisp clean bed linen is provided.  Extra activities, if required, are organized and paid for directly through the lodge.

   

PLEASE NOTEThis is a no frills safari – guests are required to bring torches, Towels and items of a personal nature.

This package does not entitle participants exclusive use of vehicles and guides
