Building and maintenance work at Dzalanyama School, inclusive an orientation hike,
visit to the lake and a superb safari to South Luangwa.

Arrival days in Lilongwe: 2009 - 11/01, 08/02, 08/03, 12/04, 10/05, 14/06, 22/07, 22/08, 13/09, 22/10, 01/11, 06/12.
Day 1: Arrive in Lilongwe. On Arrival at the Lilongwe international airport you will be collected and transferred to the Guest house. You can spend the rest of the day at your leisure. Overnight at the Guest house on dinner bed and breakfast basis.
Day 2: Today we prepare for the project - your payment includes a contribution to the project and this fee will be handed over to you and you purchase project materials to this amount. EXCESS purchases are for your own account. Once all materials, equipment and supplies have been purchased, head out to the project site. Driving time 2 hrs. ETA mid afternoon, where we relax or explore the surrounding Brachystegia Forest and nearby stream. Evening dinner. Overnight Dzalanyama Forest Lodge. The area is renowned for its excellent bird life and at times small antelope are seen. Overnight Dzalanyama Forest Lodge – all meals provided.
Day 3: Prepare for orientation hike into the surrounding hills. Walk for about 8km to overnight camp. Hike includes the support of local guides X 2 – Clients are expected to carry their own backpacks and help with camp preparations and meals.
Day 4: Hike en route to Waterfall – Overnight camp.
Day 5: After breakfast a vehicle will collect you from your camp and transfer you back to Dzalanyama lodge – Overnight Lodge – all meals provided.
Day 6 – 14: Start on project work. The main project is to build a house for the headmaster, other projects include repainting the school, maintaining Boys and Girls dormitory; helping students, planting a vegetable garden and doing some environmental education work with the members of the wildlife group.
Day 15: Departure for Senga Bay on Lake Malawi. Just after Salima stop at the craft Market. ETA at Lake Malawi. Overnight at Coolrunnings on accommodation basis only.
Day 16: The day at your leisure, relaxing at Lake Activity options are, snorkelling, boat trip to the island or a walk at Senga Bay Village.
Day 17: Depart back to Lilongwe via Mua Mission a picnic Lunch is taken and ETA in Lilongwe is mid afternoon. Overnight at the Guest house on dinner bed and breakfast basis.

Day 18: Meet at the Land and Lake Office at 0830 in the morning. Depart Lilongwe at approx 0900. Continue to Mchinji. [1&1/2 hr drive] Here we complete immigration formalities and continue to Mwami - [the Zambian border]. From the border it is a short drive to Chipata - Zambia's capital of the Eastern Province. Proceed on a dirt road to Luangwa Valley - Mfuwe sector. A picnic lunch is enjoyed en route and ETA at the Lodge is mid afternoon. On arrival and after checking in, we enjoy tea and coffee along the rivers edge. Evening dinner
Day 19: Tea, coffee and a light snack follow an early morning wake up call. Our aim is to be on our first game drive by 6.15 am. Game drives are done in open safari vehicles, to optimise your pleasure and experience. Drinks and snacks are taken along for your enjoyment whilst in the park. Depending on game sightings, we return to the lodge at 11 for a scrumptious "brunch". An afternoon rest then we again head out for our afternoon drive at around 1600 - returning to the lodge at 2000. Evening Dinner [Night drive – Luangwa is renowned for the night drives and this is INCLUDED in your safari. - a powerful spotlight is used to spot nocturnal creatures that frequent this habitat.]
Day 20: Tea, coffee and a light snack follow an early morning wake up call. Our aim again is to depart as early as possible. Drinks and snacks are taken with for your enjoyment whilst in the park. Depending on game sightings, we return to the lodge at 11 for a delicious "brunch". An afternoon rest, swim or visit to one of the local craft stores or tribal textiles is followed by tea, coffee and biscuits. We again head out for our afternoon drive at around 1600 - returning to the lodge at 2000. Evening Dinner.
Day 21: After a more leisurely start to the morning and a full breakfast, we pack up and depart back to Lilongwe. Departure time is around 0900. A picnic lunch is eaten en route and ETA in the city is 1500. Overnight at the Guest house on dinner, bed and breakfast basis.
Day 22: A transfer to the airport in time to catch their International flight.
Included: All transport Lilongwe return including vehicle support [pickup] whilst on project, all meals as indicated, supported hiking, project assistance, and safari 4 X game drives, board and lodging at Lake Malawi.
Excluded: Drinks, visa fees [if applicable], Luangwa park fees [$ 50 p/p payable in cash], Luangwa game walks [seasonal $ 25 p/p], international flights, travel insurance.
