The  SANCTUARY LODGE

A nature sanctuary being in the center of a capital city is unique and this aspect provides the opportunity, not only to develop an area suited to accommodate like minded guests and visitors, but also to train, educate and show the concept of eco tourism, sustainable development and animal rehabilitation to a wide section of Malawi's urban population. There is no place currently offering accommodation and leisure facilities in a natural environment and this will appeal to many. It is the home to wild animals, over 200 species of birds and over 122 tree species.

The Tourist Lodge
10 beautifully appointed en suite chalet accommodation units are being  built and the main bar, restaurant and lounge area will cater for visitor needs and comfort. The Lodge will offer luxurious chalet accommodation in a natural setting as well as a beautifully well kept, and spacious campsite for the more budget conscious traveler.

The lodge should be fully functional in early 2008--please keep checking this site for updates

The Wildlife Centre

LILONGWE WILDLIFE CENTRE  is located within a 70 hectare portion of land in the centre of  Lilongwe.  The Centre will be run as a non-profit making Trust with the primary goal of providing sanctuary for Malawi's orphaned and injured wild animals and to return them to the wild.   The Centre will take more of a holistic position with regards wildlife conservation and will seek to address humanitarian issues through education and awareness campaigns, highlighting, health, food & income generating concerns. Efforts will indirectly support wildlife conservation in the country long term. The Centre shall also provide a recreational facility for the people of Malawi that  offers them an opportunity to enjoy and to appreciate wildlife in a more natural environment.   For more information regarding volunteer opportunities at the Centre and how to get involved in this exciting project, please go to the Land and Lake volunteer page.
