Day 1: - Meet at the
Land and Lake Office at 0830 in the morning. [A free collection service
is offered to clients in Lilongwe]. Depart Lilongwe at 0900. Continue
to Mchinji. [1&1/2 hr drive] Here we complete immigration
formalities and continue to Mwami - [the Zambian border]. From the
border it is a short drive to Chipata - Zambia's capital of the Eastern
Province. Proceed on a dirt road to Luangwa Valley - Mfuwe sector. A
picnic lunch is enjoyed en route and ETA at the Lodge is 2.30pm.
Day 2 & 3:
- Early morning refreshments, then we depart on our morning
walking safari. Tea, coffee and a light snack are taken with for your
enjoyment whilst on the walk. Depending on routing and game sightings,
we return to the lodge at 11 for a delicious "brunch". An afternoon
rest followed by an afternoon / Night drive, returning for evening
dinner.
Day 4:
-. A leisurely morning then a return transfer via the popular tribal
textiles craft shop. A picnic lunch is eaten en route and ETA in
the city is 1500. A free drop off service is offered in Lilongwe

Luangwa Valley -
9050 sq km of pristine woodland and riverine vegetation plays host to
over 40 mammal and 650 bird species. The South Luangwa has been
described as the premier park in Africa foremost for the variety of
species seen when visiting. A visit to Malawi and Zambia would be
totally incomplete without experiencing the sheer magnitude and delight
of this unique area.
Thornicroft has
spacious and airy en suite chalets built with stone and wood with
canvass roofs. Luxurious beds and mattresses ensures you the best
nights rest possible, whilst being safely tucked inside your large walk
in mosquito net. The chalets are large enough to accommodate an extra
bed for children if required. Square pin electrical power sockets are
provided close to your writing desk and personal safety deposit box.
Each chalet has a veranda with a views over the river & park.
The colour scheme is in African earth tones, the aim being
to create a feeling of simplistic sophistication with modern
conveniences. Natural materials have been used artistically to give
each chalet its unique style and ambience.
The restaurant, bar and lounge area is in the heart of the property
within easy reach of all the chalets. Set menu's are offered and
all dietary requirements are catered for as long as we have prior
notice. Tea and coffee will be available at all times and the
bar serves a selection of drinks for all occasions.
