The Dzalanyama Mountain range sits between the border of Malawi and Mozambique, just 2 hours outside of Lilongwe and covered in brachystegia woodland.

One of the best locations for birding, offering superb miombo birding and the most accessible location to see the peculiarly localised Stierlings Woodpecker.

The house, set overlooking the Makata Stream, amongst the brachystegia trees is fully staffed, equipped with self-catering facilities and operates solely on solar and gas lighting and all cooking is done on a wood fired stove.

This quiet timber house holds most of its colonial charms, with modern additions of en-suite bathrooms and then newly completed chalets built on stilts into the tree-line - Dzalanyama House can accommodate up to 14 guests.

Additionally we have built a secluded campsite on the banks of the stream near the waterfall, equipped with hot water and eco-loos.

Ideal for families, groups or individuals for an escape from the modern world, Dzalanyama is ideal for ornithologists, hikers, bikers and 4x4 enthusiasts.

Dzalanyama is the home to many of our out-reach programs, including Dzalanyama School, Kachere School and The Dzalanyama Bamboo Project. Get involved in one of our programs by adding a voluntary experience to your tour, giving back to the community and forest.
